1. Get enough sleep!
Fishing boats leave early, so make sure to go to bed early the night before your trip.
2. Motion sickness:
Not everyone get seasick, but if you're not sure, it's best to be prepared... Consider asking your doctor for a recommendation for motion sickness medication and make sure you start the medication the night before departure. If you do feel sick, try to sit outside in the fresh air, with the wind in your face, instead of in the galley. Next, focus on the horizon and drink some water or 7-Up. Avoid reading, watching TV and even talking to neighbors. For most people, the sea sickness will pass after some time, and you'll be able to enjoy an excellent fishing adventure.
3. Wear the right clothes:
Often, it's chilly on the way out of the harbor, but then beautifully warm and sunny throughout the day. By layering your clothing, you'll be protected from the cold, but still able to enjoy the sun while fishing. If the weather report shows that it will be a hot day, consider wearing long pants for the ride out, but bring shorts to change into. We recommend wearing a waterproof jacket, sunglasses and a hat.
4. Rental fishing equipment:
Hook's Landing has everything you will need to reel in the big one. We offer fishing poles for rent and tackle for sale. Don't worry about messing with fancy fishing knots - our experienced crew will be waiting to assist you with setting up your equipment and getting you catching fish!
5. What to bring:
Water, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Hat, wear layers, camera, any medication you might need, cash (cash only on the boat - credit cards are fine in the office.)
6. What to leave behind:
Alcohol - No cooler allowed. Alcohol is available for purchase on the boat by fishermen over 21 years of age.
Drugs - We have a zero tolerance policy: absolutely no drugs allowed
Weapons - We have a zero tolerance policy: absolutely no weapon allowed
Pets - sorry, the only dog allowed on our boats is Doc, Captain Chris's fishing dog...
